Coach Jake

After the Summer Games Jake realized how much he missed Wrestling, but more so, how much he missed the Coaching aspect. As he watched the high school age kids he would think, that guy is too high, that kid is too low, he needs to this-that, etc.

So around the end of June he started looking on the School District websites to see about getting on at a high school as an Assistant Coach. I remember when we met that Jake told me one of his dreams for the future was to one day be a Wrestling Coach. Of course, not for a full time job, but because he loved it so much, and it was his passion. Jake wrestled since he was 5 until 20, when he had to have his knee scoped in college. I thought yeah sure, maybe one day...and that time has come for him!

Jake applied for the Assistant Coaching position at a brand new high school, and interviewed in early July. Let me tell you, putting together a Sports resume was a first for us! Once it was all done and put together, man he looked super impressive on paper! :) They finally made a decision, and he found out in late July that he got it! The Head Coach and Principal both told Jake that he came highly recommended to them! We are so proud of him, and we're looking forward to Wrestling season this year!

Bear Lake

Over the 24th of July holiday (Pioneer Day in Utah) we spent the weekend in Bear Lake. Uncle Mick took his boat out on the lake, and we had a blast hanging out with our cousins! The kids have a blast (especially Axton and Brady!) and its always so fun to catch up with my cousins, too!

A couple funny stories about some of these pictures!

I had settled down on my towel to relax in the sun, and cute little Gracee came and snuggled right beside me. Too cute!

Before we headed out into the lake I wanted a pic of Gwynie.
She got mad after I took this picture.

She took off her life jacket, sat down and posed, and said NOW I could take her picture! HAHAHA!

Brady and Axton...crazy B as usual.

For Uncle Mick...he wanted a pic of his boat with people in it! :)

Gwynie loves driving...uh-oh! She keeps reminding us she's only 6 years away from it!

And one of the funniest stories....Brady was driving and Mick was teasing him that the cops were going to come get him. Brady lets go of the steering wheel, jumps away and says, "You drive!" ;)
It was a super fun weekend and I'm so glad we got to get a day in at the lake this summer!!

4th of July!

Following my OCD tendencies, this has also to be back dated! (Its 8/23 right now...just a tad late!)

For the 4th of July we almost always go out to Grantsville for the parade and a BBQ with Jake's Mom and Dad. There's just something about those small town parades that I love! Although, it always makes me mad that their cheerleaders and drill team don't actually march...they ride in trucks! What the heck!! For Drill Team we had 6 AM practices for months to get ready for the few parades we would march in! Plus, we looked good, too! So G-ville people...I'm just sayin...

Anyway, the kids love the parade to grab the candy they toss out, and we always end up with two bags full of salt water taffy (YUMMO!). My Mom usually gets the kids special little 4th outfits, but this year the Post Office guaranteed it to be to us on the 3rd, but we actually didn't get the package until that Monday the 7th! Bummer!

Here are some pics from the day. It was actually sprinkling a bit before the parade, but cleared up just in time for it to start. That totally cooled us down so this year we weren't so hot!

Waiting for the parade to start!

After the parade we headed over to see the classic cars at the park. The kids loved this oldie fire truck!

Then the fireworks and sparklers later at home...another fun 4th of July!
